28 September 2010 Cycle Four Treatment Two

Saw Dr R today (my Oncologist for the last 20+ years) for the first time in ages I actually now have two that I see here in town, and the three (so far) I see back East at NIH.

Had my chemo treatment and so far everything is going well. No major side effect just tired when I come down off my steroid high. Took one nurse one try to get in today. Had a yucky tingly taste in my mouth about 5 min after Chemo started. This lasted all thru the infusion and for about 20 min after wards.

I’m heartbroken my little Netbook Died on me last trip back east. I’m having troubles getting an English speaking non accented person on the phone to help me with it. Will try again in a little bit.

23 September 2010 Cycle Four Treatment One

Just returned home from another trip back east at Bethesda MD for treatment.Every thing is status quo. Monday we were at the clinic for 12 hours, made for a very long day. Tuesday was a little less hectic so we went back to the hotel for a respite. Then we went had a lovely dinner and relaxed conversation at my friends home. Back to the clinic on Wednesday for my chemo treatment. we were free for the first time by noon----now what to do with ourselves......go back to the hotel and nap, then out to dinner in down town Bethesda. the hotel offers a free shuttle to downtown Bethesda after 5 pm so we caught that. walked around town for a bit then went to the same Italian restaurant where I went last month for Amber's birthday.

Coming home was different. after all passengers are boarded onto the plane the captain comes on and say " um folks we have a little delay here as the weather radar doesn't seem to be working properly----it'll be about 20 min and they'll decide what to do about it----20 min later same spiel with the added note that a "back up plane" would be there about 8:30 PM it is now 6:00 PM. 20 min later he says we have clearance for take off---claps from the passengers. After being delayed for a hour we were actually only about 30 min later landing at PDX.

Sure was nice to sleep in my own bed last night.

Sunday 19 September 2010

Jann Hayes We have arrived at our **home away from home** This is the hotel we stay at each trip out here. We walk in the door and it's "Welcome Back Ms Hayes good to see you again." Then they asked if my walker had been delivered and I said that I thought that it had been---Sure enough they went and looked and they had it for me. They also assured me that the *nonslip* bath mat was in place They really are quite friendly. If you need anything just ask and we'll see what we can do for you.

We are hoping for a smooth flight and no hassles with security any where.

Also want to send WARM vibes to all my friends who are walking in the RACE for the CURE today. I hope and pray that the rains hold off till it's over. Coolish weather is great for walking in as long as it's not to wet. thanks to all of you who donated to the cause in my name.

14 September 2010 Cycle three Treatment NONE

MY OFF WEEK This coming Sunday 19 September 2010 is

Race for the Cure 2010

Even though we (Keep-Her [my dog] and I) will not be walking we have joined a Team to raise funds for the Komen Race for the Cure event again this year. Keep-Her and I’ll be “Flying for the Cure” instead. As this year during the race for the cure I'm scheduled to be back at the National Cancer institute receiving experimental treatment that will hopefully help me and other's in the future to live cancer free. Won’t you help us reach our goal.

31 August 2010 Cycle three Treatment two

Saw Dr E. today; He signed the orders for me to continue with the Study treatments here in town. What silly little protocol that they have. I got a call the day before reminding me of my appointment then later in the day I got another call telling me that he’d been double booked and would I come in in the afternoon instead of the morning. I said sure but in the back of my mind I had a feeling that I had now double booked either me or Amber for something but there was nothing written on my calendar.----Up sure enough Amber had another appointment that was most likely going to conflict since the clinic is always slow to get us in and out. I got a hold of Mack and he was able fortunately in town and able to help us out.
